11023 Cowper Captain the HonMartineau (1802 1876) is considered the first female sociologist. Famous for her lifelong commitment to abolition and women's education, she also published on economic systems and social ills. She wrote two novels, one being a fictional rendering of the life of Haitian leader Toussaint L'Ouverture. Miller wrote this biographical and critical sketch drawn from a variety of sources, including Martineau's autobiography of 1855. Very Good condition, clean
